What is the Buddy Program?

Every year, several hundred international students come to study at the University of Siegen.

As exciting as a stay in a foreign country is, it can bring a variety of challenges: a new surrounding, an unknown culture with its own customs language barriers.

The  program connects international students with local students. It offers peer-to-peer support, encourages intercultural exchange while helping international students with their orientation on campus and in the city.

International students are paired with an experienced Local Buddy from a higher semester who as their contact person. The Local Buddy helps their assigned International Buddy with questions regarding the university and the daily life in Germany.

During the semester, there are a lot of cultural events where the Buddys can get to know each other, and activities in and around Siegen.

WHO CAN ATTEND THE BUDDY PROGRAM?

You are new to Siegen and your first semester is starting soon?

As an international student you are seeking support from an experienced local student?

The Buddy Program offers intercultural exchange, fun group activities and the opportunity to find new friends and enhance your language skills.

Registration deadline for wintersemester 2024/25 was Monday, 30. September 2024.

Take part in the Buddy Programm for your Employability Pass!

If you successfully complete the Buddy Program, you will receive 3 points in the area of Well Being & Social Orientation for your Employability Pass.
