04.07.25 Recap Excursion: Museum of Technology Freudenberg | FIT: Soft Skills & Employability

On Friday, July 4, 2025, a group of international students embarked on a unique educational excursion to the Museum of Technology in Freudenberg – a highlight of the summer FIT program. Meeting at Siegen Central Bus Station, participants traveled together to explore the fascinating exhibition “Steam Engine and Transmission Systems”.

During the English-language guided tour, students experienced:

  • A working steam engine in action
  • Belt-driven machinery that shaped early industrial production
  • Insight into labor conditions during Germany’s Gründerzeit (Founders’ Era)
  • A deeper understanding of the industrial heritage of the Siegerland region

The visit offered valuable perspectives on the evolution of technology and its impact on society—especially relevant for students in technical and engineering degree programs. More than just a museum tour, the event sparked discussion about innovation, historical context, and the role of engineering in shaping the modern workplace.

This event also counted for 3 points in the category „Soft Skills & Employability“ of the Employability Pass!

We thank all participants for their engagement and curiosity—and encourage those who missed it to join future FIT events!
