Recap 01.12. Workshop: The Dos and Don’ts of Personal Branding on LinkedIn and XING | FIT: Soft Skills & Employability

On December 1st, 2025, participants gathered for a engaging workshop focused on personal branding, specifically how to craft an impactful and professional profile on LinkedIn and XING. The session was designed to provide students with practical insights and strategies for leveraging these platforms to enhance their online presence and boost career prospects.

Facilitated by expert social media strategist Lisa Müller, the workshop combined expert advice with hands-on activities, guiding students through the essential steps of creating and optimizing their personal brand on professional networking sites.

Highlights included:

Optimizing LinkedIn and XING profiles: Participants learned how to improve their profile photos, headlines, and summaries to better highlight their skills and achievements.
Building and expanding a professional network: The session emphasized strategies for connecting with the right people and maintaining meaningful relationships.
Sharing the right content: Insights were given on what types of posts, articles, and interactions help establish credibility without being overly promotional.
Avoiding common personal branding mistakes: Attendees learned what to avoid, such as unprofessional photos or irrelevant content that can damage their reputation.
Maximizing the unique features of  LinkedIn: Practical tips were shared on how to use LinkedIn  effectively based on it’s distinct features and target audience.

Participants put the theory into practice immediately, refining their profiles and identifying specific steps to improve their online presence. By the end of the workshop, attendees left with a clearer understanding of how to brand themselves professionally, an enhanced profile on both platforms, and actionable steps to make a stronger impact in the job market.

Recap: 01.12.-15.12. Self-Study Course Change Competence – Develop the Ability to Cope with Change

From December 1 to December 15, 2025, participants had the opportunity to take part in the self-study course “Change Competence – Navigating Change Effectively”, designed to provide practical knowledge while enabling independent and flexible learning.

Through a combination of structured learning modules, practical exercises, and reflection tasks, participants were able to work through the content at their own pace and apply what they learned directly. The course focused not only on knowledge acquisition but also on the sustainable development of individual competencies.

Highlights of the self-study course:

✅ Flexible, location-independent learning at an individual pace

✅ Practice-oriented tasks for direct application of the content

✅ Strengthening self-organization and independent learning skills

✅ Opportunities for individual reflection and deeper engagement with key topics

✅ Sustainable competence development through self-directed learning

Participants gained valuable experience in self-directed learning and were able to further develop their skills in a targeted way.
The course was offered by the Career Service as part of the FIT project.

Outlook

Recap: 28.11. Intercultural Session: Culture & Cake – A Sweet Dive into Germany FIT: Welcome & Orientation

On November 28, 2025, international students joined the interactive session “Culture & Cake – A Sweet Dive into Germany” to explore key aspects of German culture in a relaxed and engaging setting.

The session combined practical insights into cultural norms with open discussion and exchange. Participants explored everyday behaviors, communication styles, and social expectations in Germany—while also experiencing one of the country’s most beloved traditions: enjoying coffee and cake together.

Highlights of the session:

✅ Exploring key aspects of German communication styles and social norms

✅ Understanding the role of rules, structure, and efficiency in daily life

✅ Learning how to avoid common intercultural misunderstandings

✅ Experiencing the German tradition of coffee and cake in a social setting

✅ Sharing personal experiences and connecting with other international students

The session provided a welcoming space for participants to ask questions, reflect on their experiences, and gain practical insights into navigating everyday life in Germany. Through both discussion and informal exchange, students were able to deepen their cultural understanding and feel more confident in their new environment.

Recap: Workshop Time Management | FIT: Well-Being & Social Integration

On Friday, October 10, 2025, international students came together to explore how to manage time more effectively, balance priorities, and boost productivity — all while maintaining well-being.

Through a mix of interactive exercises, group discussions, and personal reflection, participants gained valuable insights into their own habits and challenges. They learned how to set realistic goals, align tasks with personal values, and develop strategies to stay focused and organized in their academic and personal lives.

Highlights included:
✅ Identifying time management pitfalls and how to overcome them
✅ Building personalized schedules and tools for better balance
✅ Discovering ways to reduce procrastination and increase motivation
✅ Sharing experiences and learning from peers

Participants left the session feeling more confident, focused, and equipped with practical tools to take control of their time and thrive under pressure.

Recap: 24.11.-08.12. Deutscher Selbstlernkurs Veränderungskompetenz – Mit Wandel kompetent umgehen

📅 Datum: 24. November – 08. Dezember 2025 (Selbstlernphase)

Vom 24.11.-08.12.2025 hatten Teilnehmende die Möglichkeit am Selbstlernkurs Veränderungskompetenz teilzunehmen, der darauf ausgerichtet war, ihnen praxisnahes Wissen zu vermitteln und eigenständiges, flexibles Lernen zu ermöglichen.

Durch eine Kombination aus strukturierten Lernmodulen, praktischen Übungen und Reflexionsaufgaben konnten die Teilnehmenden die Inhalte in ihrem eigenen Tempo erarbeiten und direkt anwenden. Dabei lag der Fokus nicht nur auf der Wissensvermittlung, sondern auch auf der nachhaltigen Entwicklung individueller Kompetenzen.

Highlights des Selbstlernkurses:

✅ Flexibles, ortsunabhängiges Lernen im eigenen Tempo

✅ Praxisorientierte Aufgaben zur direkten Anwendung der Inhalte

Die Teilnehmenden konnten wertvolle Erfahrungen im selbstgesteuerten Lernen sammeln und ihre Fähigkeiten gezielt weiterentwickeln.
Der Kurs wurde vom Career Service für das FIT Projekt durchgeführt.

Recap 21.11. Workshop: Your Career in Germany – Entering the German Job Market | FIT: Soft Skills & Employability

 

On November 21, 2025, participants attended an interactive seminar designed to help them understand and navigate the German job market — beyond simply searching for job ads.

Through a mix of practical input, guided exercises, and group discussion, participants explored what makes the German job market unique and how to prepare strong, targeted applications. They gained insights into employer expectations, reflected on their own competencies, and learned how to present their skills convincingly in application documents.

Highlights included:

✅ Understanding the structure and characteristics of the German job market

✅ Learning how to read and analyze job advertisements to tailor applications effectively

✅ Exploring professional networking strategies and the potential of speculative applications

✅ Reflecting on personal strengths and experiences to build a convincing applicant profile

✅ Understanding how to structure a strong CV for the German job market

✅ Learning about additional documents often required in Germany and how digital recruiting tools (e.g., ATS systems) influence applications

Participants left the workshop with a clearer understanding of how to approach their job search in Germany, along with practical strategies for researching employers, building networks, and creating professional, targeted application documents.

Recap 15.11. Workshop: Employability – Job Hunt Boot Camp | FIT: Soft Skills & Employability

On 15 November 2025, students participated in a hands-on, in-person Job Hunt Boot Camp designed to boost their employability skills through practical challenges and peer interaction. The workshop combined brief expert inputs, self-reflection, peer feedback, and group activities to build strong foundations in key professional competencies.

Facilitators guided participants through realistic scenarios such as job interviews and workplace challenges, helping them develop self-leadership, critical thinking, and goal-setting strategies.

Highlights included:
✅ Practical advice on writing a CV and building a personal brand
✅ Role-play exercises for interviews and presentations
✅ Group work to strengthen communication and teamwork skills
✅ Personalized feedback on participants’ CVs
✅ Analysis of real job postings to tailor job applications effectively
✅ Developing self-leadership, critical thinking, and goal-setting skills

Participants were encouraged to bring job postings they were interested in, enabling them to analyze and discuss how to tailor their applications with their peers. Those who brought their CVs received individual feedback.

To help sustain the momentum and reinforce learning, students had the opportunity to take part in an online follow-up session where they could reflect on their application processes, share experiences, and receive further tailored feedback.

Recap – 14.11. Workshop: Employability Assessment Training | FIT: Soft Skills & Employability

On November 14, 2025, participants attended an interactive in-person workshop designed to help them assess and strengthen their personal employability profile.

Led by employability and personal development expert Manuel Löffler, the session offered a mix of expert input, guided reflection, and collaborative exercises to support students in understanding their strengths, competencies, and development needs.

Highlights included:
✅ Assessing one’s current employability profile and identifying relevant strengths and areas for improvement
✅ Reflecting on personal, interpersonal, and professional competencies
✅ Learning which skills and attributes are especially valued in different industries
✅ Understanding how to align one’s individual profile with career goals
✅ Defining practical steps to further develop key competencies and boost employability

Participants immediately put their insights into action — from evaluating their current skill set to identifying concrete development steps for their future careers. By the end of the workshop, students left with greater self-awareness, practical strategies, and renewed confidence to strengthen their employability profile and move forward in their professional journey.

As a follow-up, participants are invited to a feedback session to receive individualized input based on their self-assessments.

Recap 14.+15.11. Deutscher Workshop: Deine Heldenreise – Entdecke deine Stärken & Fähigkeiten für den Beruf | Ein kreativer Workshop

Dieser Workshop wurde vom Career Service organisiert.

In diesem zweitägigen kreativen Workshop setzten sich die Teilnehmenden intensiv mit ihren persönlichen Stärken, Fähigkeiten und beruflichen Perspektiven auseinander. Durch interaktive Übungen wurde sichtbar, welche Kompetenzen sie bereits im Studienalltag erfolgreich nutzen und wie diese zu gefragten Future Skills passen.

Die Gruppe lernte unterschiedliche Berufsprofile kennen, verglich diese mit dem eigenen Kompetenzprofil und gewann so mehr Klarheit über mögliche berufliche Richtungen. Am zweiten Tag wurde die individuelle „Heldenreise“ schließlich kreativ auf einer Leinwand umgesetzt – ganz ohne künstlerische Vorkenntnisse, nur mit Neugier und Abenteuerlust.

Der Workshop bot:

  • Erkenntnisse über persönliche Stärken und Fähigkeiten

  • Verständnis für wichtige Future Skills

  • Orientierung durch verschiedene Berufsprofile

  • Konkrete nächste Schritte für die eigene berufliche Entwicklung

On October 8, 2025, participants joined an interactive online workshop to gain practical insights into the German job market and learn how to stand out in the application process.

Led by Julia Barden, psychologist and experienced HR professional, the session combined expert input with hands-on exercises to help students confidently approach their job search in Germany.

Highlights included:
✅ Understanding how to find and evaluate suitable job openings
✅ Analyzing job ads to identify key requirements and tailor applications
✅ Writing a structured and convincing cover letter
✅ Designing a professional CV for the German job market
✅ Optimizing LinkedIn profiles for better visibility and networking

Participants immediately applied what they learned — from finding a fitting job offer to drafting a customized application.

By the end of the workshop, students walked away with greater clarity, practical tools, and confidence to navigate the German application process successfully.
