Certificate (sick note)

How you get a sick note and whe you will need it:

If you cannot attend an exam or finish complete tasks within the given time frame/deadline due to illness, you need an signed note from the doctor.

This certificate, known in Germany as an Attest, states that you were unfit to write the examination. This certificate ensures that you will be able to participate at the examination at a later date. If you feel unwell, don’t hesitate to go to a doctor. He or she will decide whether you are fit.

The certificate must be submitted to the examination office, as otherwise the exam will be considered failed.

General practitioners can also write an official sick note if you feel too unwell to work. This should be presented to your employer within three calendar days from the start of your illness, allowing you to rest and recover.
